Julius Caesar Essay On The Truth - 938 Words
Mackenzie Woock Mrs. Trachtman Honors English 9 10 October 2017 The Violent Truth The truth; those words that are hard to tell. Those few simple letters that are so agonizing to speak that most will not let it roll off their tongue for others to hear. Yet the truth reveals more than what it seem on the surface; it is a gateway to reveal a personââ¬â¢s values, and captures their true emotions and inner thoughts. The truth is a relevant concept in William Shakespeareââ¬â¢s Julius Caesar, a story showing the stabbing of an uprising leader and the conflict that occurs following the event. More specifically, the idea of truthfulness is especially common regarding the character Marc Antony. William Shakespeare uses the underestimated and loyalâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦In relation, Brutus trusts that Antony will be nothing but kind and respectful toward him and the others, which is later obvious to the readers that he is underestimated the whole time. After the killing of Caesar, readers eventually learn that Shakespeare puts a facade on An tony to make him seem as if he will not make any sort of true impact on the story. Antonyââ¬â¢s true intentions (to take revenge for Caesarââ¬â¢s death) are revealed when Brutus, Cassius and he himself go to war over leadership in Rome and the killing of Caesar. Readers learn that the underwhelming character Marc Antony actually is a powerful, manipulative person through the conflict over Caesarââ¬â¢s death. Additionally, Shakespeare depicts Marc Antony as an overall loyal and devoted person that is always there for Caesar when needed. He is often displayed as a ââ¬Å"suck-upâ⬠that has no backbone- someone who simply cannot stand on their own and even express their own thoughts all because of their loyalty to another. This is accurate when Antony himself says to Caesar, ââ¬Å"When Caesar says ââ¬Å"Do this,â⬠it is performââ¬â¢d,â⬠( JC 1.2.13). Antonyââ¬â¢s full approach toward can be mostly summed up by just that one statement. By expressing this to Caesar, it is evident to readers that Antony has strong devotion toward Caesar. On the contrary, it is also evident that Antony is just as loyal to himself as he is to Caesar. If Antony has really only ever been loyal to Caesar,Show MoreRelatedAnalysis Of Julius Caesar s The Gallic War 1070 Words à |à 5 PagesCritique Essay In this critique of Julius Caesarââ¬â¢s book, The Gallic War, I will be discussing the purpose and accuracy (or in this case, inaccuracy) over his adventures and military campaign against the Gallic tribes. Pearl Essays - The Pearl, , Term Papers, Research Papers
Pearl Ever since Midas' lust for gold, it appears to be that man has acquired a greed and appetite for wealth. Juana, the Priest, and the doctor have all undergone a change due to money. They are all affected by their hunger for wealth and inturn are the base for their own destruction, and the destruction of society. Steinbeck's "The Pearl" is a study of man's self destruction through greed. Juana, the faithful wife of Kino, a paltry peasant man, had lived a spiritual life for what had seemed like as long as she could remember. When her son Coyito fell ill from the bite of a scorpion, she eagerly turned towards the spiritual aspects of life. Beginning to pray for her son's endangered life. The doctor who had resided in the upper-class section of the town, refused to assistant the child, turning them away when they arrived at the door. Lastly they turned to the sea to seek their fortune. When Juana set sight on the "Pearl of The World." she felt as though all her prayers had been answered, if she could have foreseen the future what she would have seen would have been a mirror image of her reality. Juana's husband was caught in a twisted realm of mirrors, and they were all shattering one by one. In the night he heard a "sound so soft that it might have been simply a thought..." and quickly attacked the trespasser. This is where the problems for Juana and her family began. The fear that had mounted in Kino's body had taken control over his actions. Soon even Juana who had always had faith in her husband, had doubted him greatly. "It will destroy us all" she yelled as her attempt to rid the family of the pearl had failed. Kino had not listened however, and soon Juana began to lose her spiritual side and for a long time she had forgotten her prayers that had at once meant so much to her. She had tried to help Kino before to much trouble had aroused, only to discover that she was not competent enough to help. A hypocrathic oath is said before each medical student is granted a Doctors degree. In the oath they swear to aid the ill, and cure the injured. In the village of La Paz there lived a doctor who had earned his wealth by helping those that were ill and could afford his services. Not once in his long career would he have dared refuse to aid a wealthy lawyer or noblemen. However when Kino and the group of money hungry peasants arrived at his door with a poisoned child he had refused them entry saying "Have I nothing better to do than cure insect bites for `little Indians'? I am a doctor, not a veterinary." for the doctor had known that the peasants hadn't any money. He had been to Paris and had enjoyed the splendors of the world, and therefore he wouldn't be seen dealing with the less fortunate as he knew that the less fortunate would surely always be just that-less fortunate. However it seemed that he had been stereotypical of the less fortunate, as he soon discovered when hearing of a great pearl discovered by the peasants who had knocked upon his door earlier that day. A hunger for wealth was what pushed him to visit the peasants house and aid their destitute son. However he had already ended Coyito's life without knowing he'd done so, for if he had administered aid to Coyito when they were first at the doctors door, Kino would have no reason to seek his fortune in the ocean, and would not be led down the road to hardships. One might think that a doctor, one who has the image of being passive, and caring should not stoop to such a level. When one is down on their luck, chances are they will turn to superstition in hope to acquire what it is that they would want to achieve. A good example of this would be a good luck charm such as a rabbit's foot. In La Paz the peasants were uneducated and probably had never heard of a superstition. The peasants only reliability, there only scapegoat was God. God had always been their to aid them in there times of need. The first reaction of Juana when seeing the scorpion is a good example of spirituality, rather than attempt to kill the scorpion she began to pray to

Create a Perfect Study Environment Around Yourself 12 Tips
Create a Perfect Study Environment Around Yourself 12 Tips Create a Perfect Study Environment Around Yourself Student life is rather engaging and at times offers much fun. Being young and having lots of friendsâ⬠¦ Is there anything else you need for happiness? A friendly student community and an exciting extracurricular environment may offer a high fun factor; however, many students experience difficulties when its time to get ready for exams or complete a major project. College and university studies require preparation to build up a well-rounded education. Self-motivation and the ability to organize your time and activities are to be considered first. Here are 12 tips to help students create a perfect studying environment! Choose a proper place for your studies Find a place which will suit your studies regarding all key factors: lightning, comfortable sitting and a table. Try to avoid using the same place for studying and napping (Cohn, 2013). The place where you study should help you concentrate, not fall asleep! Get equipped with everything you need Choosing a place and getting right to work is one thing, but its also essential to sort everything out around you, and make sure you have all the necessary tools and reference materials so thereââ¬â¢s no need to search for things every single moment (Cohn, 2013). Keep your studying place clean Keep the place where you study tidy and clean it regularly. Wadded up papers and stained coffee cups are likely to bring disorder into your mind. A neatly ordered table and plenty of fresh air in your room can boost your mood and enhance your brain power! Reduce the number of distractions Stay away from noisy places. A few experts think that soft background music benefits your concentration and, at the same time, boosts your academic studies; but there is also evidence to suggest that hearing a familiar tune and humming along with it is more likely to distract you from your studies (Flavin, 2015). Use the library Go to the library and spend time studying there. Find and use books related to your topics. Being surrounded with a dozen books will give you a better insight into the subject matter of your studies, and the library itself will also serve as an inspiring environment for you. Include regular breaks into your studies Once youââ¬â¢ve organized your working environment and escaped all disturbances, you can immerse fully into your studies and let the whole world forget about you until the next holiday. No way! Dont forget about work/rest balance! Take regular breaks to recharge your batteries and get some inspiration (Cohn, 2013). Go out for a while and breathe some fresh air or have a snack. Youââ¬â¢ll notice that these short pauses can make your studies more effective and stimulate your mental abilities! Leave your gadgets aside for a while Make a decision to avoid using your iPad and mobile phone while you study. You may think that you cant do without them a single minute, but in fact, its not true! Unplug your devices or turn the silent mode on. This will help you concentrate on the exam or project, instead of non-stop useless chatting. Moreover, being silent for some time will help you generate new ideas and get a better insight of the subject youââ¬â¢re dealing with (Flavin, 2015). Keep in mind your motivation Always remember the goals you want to achieve through studying (Cohn, 2013). Its important to understand why you need to get good education, so envision a major goal that you dream about and find something to represent this dream to yourself that you can hang on your wall or put on the cover of your notebook. Have a look at this image each time you start losing your enthusiasm. Remember, all your studying means something! Be persistent Dont get discouraged if some task seems rather challenging. Divide tough tasks into chunks to cope with them easily (Cohn, 2013). This way, if something seems too difficult today, it will get much easier tomorrow! Make the list of tasks for each day No matter how many issues you have to deal with, or how many pages you have to compose, its impossible to do everything in just one day (Cohn, 2013). Analyze the amount of work you have left to do and make a list of things to accomplish each day (e.g. to find the needed sources, to read\write 20 pages). At the end of the day, cross out all the items that youââ¬â¢ve completed. Using such approach will make your studies well-timed and better-organized, and youââ¬â¢ll avoid problems with due dates. Choosing time for studies ââ¬â an early riser or a night owl? Studying both day and night before an exam or typing the day and night before handing in a term paper is pointless and exhausting. Choose a time when you are able to read a lot, analyze information, compose thesis, so that your scholarly work is the most effective (Flavin, 2015). It usually depends on your biological clock; so morning or evening hours for studies; youââ¬â¢re the one to choose. Make your studying environment suit you! Along with acquiring good knowledge and getting excellent academic results, its very important to enjoy your studies! Try to organize you study-place just the way you like it. Get a new comfortable chair for yourself, or put a nice plant on your table. To summarize everything above, letââ¬â¢s state simply that your study environment, if organized the right way, will boost your mood and raise your grades. 1. Whats Complicating Bernankes Balancing Act Essay
Whats Complicating Bernankes Balancing Act - Essay Example products, but more about the market forces that are determined by overseas. The interdependency can be observed from the increasing trade volume between U.S. and Asia, which has doubled in 10 years. The complication increases the chances that the Fed could make a policy mistake by pushing rates too high or leaving them too low. It could cost the economy deadly if an error is to be corrected later on. (Cooper, 2006) Large countries, like the U.S., used to alter their monetary policies according to the situation of themselves. For example, in the past, the U.S. could keep her inflation rate under control easily and effectively through adjusting the interest rate to a right level. However, in the world of globalization, as the world economies are becoming more interdependent, as supported by the increasing trading volume in the passage, the level of interest rate would also affect the trade deficit issues between the U.S. and other countries as foreign capital is in need to finance the trade deficit.

Prescriptive and Emergent Strategic Planning Essay
Prescriptive and Emergent Strategic Planning - Essay Example The paper throws light on strategic planning process as part of strategic management that has been applied by business managers over the years. The process involves a formal analysis of the market forces and developing an operational plan to be adopted by the organization in terms of resource allocation and the control mechanism. Strategic management will involve formulating the mission, vision, values, roles, responsibilities, goals, and objectives of the organization and developing policies to be implemented to achieve these objectives. Strategic planning is one of the management tools. It involves making principles, decisions, and steps to define what an organization will do and how it will be done in relation to the expected future trends in a given market. Planners often use economic theories to formulate the operational strategies to be adopted by the organizations. Nonetheless, the future may not fit these economic models and the intended patterns according to these strategies may not be realized finally by the organization. The traditional approach to strategic planning did not consider the dynamics in the business operations. In theory, the operations of an organization can be fully planned whereas in practice it is not possible. Essentially a strategic planning process should involve developing a mechanism to respond to the circumstances that will be encountered in a business environment regardless of whether or not the conditions were known to the planners during the planning process. (Management FAQs, n.d). Since the contemporary market is dynamic and the strategic models that are developed based on economic theories may not apply, alternative approaches to strategic planning are often used by organizations. Business organizations operating in the dynamic business environment may often encounter situations that require quick responses that cannot be made through the formal strategic planning processes (The Open University, 2012). An emergent strateg y is a situation where the realized pattern is different from the pattern that was expressly intended by the planners (Mintzberg, 1994). The essence of the emergent strategic planning approaches is to manage the dynamics that is observed. The emergent strategic planning does not originate fully from the minds of the planner. Much of it is determined by the factors that are prevailing at a given time that may not favor the realization of the intended objectives and goals. This paper provides an evaluation of the effectiveness of the traditional prescriptive strategic planning in relation to the current economic climate. Another category of alternative strategic planning approaches are also considered with an emphasis on the emergent strategic planning. Prescriptive strategic planning Strategic planning is one of the tough managerial tasks in business operations since it is at times complex and very challenging. It has been pointed out that planning is ââ¬Ëa formalized procedure to produce an articulated result in the form of an integrated system of decisionsââ¬â¢ (Mintzberg, 1994, p.12). The organizations are faced by a series of decisions to make. The organizations have several needs to be accomplished, and which may not be accomplished at the same time owing to the limited resources that these organizations have. The strategic planning will involve making decisions and actions that are more significant towards helping the organization achieve some if not all of the objectives (Management FAQs, n.d). Planning involves bringing mediation and some kind of compromise/agreement between the business and the environment. It involves forecasting into the future and meditating what should be done long before the situation is realized. The prescriptive thoughts to strategic pla
